The whimsical joys that can be found in a senior living facility! Within these warm and welcoming walls, a group of seniors discovers the delightful world of crafting with Popsicle stick scarecrow magnets. With their hearts full of creativity and a touch of autumn magic, they embark on a joyous journey of artistic expression, laughter, and the joy of bringing characters to life.
Picture a cozy activity room buzzing with excitement. The seniors gather around a table adorned with Popsicle sticks, paints, googly eyes, and an assortment of vibrant craft materials. Their eyes sparkle with anticipation as they envision the scarecrows taking shape. With steady hands and bursts of artistic inspiration, they transform simple wooden sticks into adorable scarecrow characters, each one unique and filled with personality.
As the scarecrows come to life, a sense of playfulness envelops the room. The seniors share tips and tricks, adding straw-like hair, colorful patches, and quirky accessories to their creations. Laughter fills the air as they engage in friendly banter, exchanging tales of autumn memories, and sharing their own unique approaches to crafting these whimsical scarecrow magnets.
Once the paint dries, it’s time for the finishing touches. The seniors add magnets to the back of their scarecrows, turning them into delightful fridge companions. With a sense of accomplishment, they proudly display their scarecrow magnets, transforming their living spaces into miniature galleries of autumn-inspired charm.
But the fun doesn’t end there. The seniors organize a scarecrow decorating contest, showcasing their creations and inviting fellow residents and staff to vote for their favorite designs. The room is filled with awe and admiration as the scarecrows line up, each one boasting its own distinctive style and captivating charm. The contest becomes a celebration of artistic expression and friendly competition, fostering connections and sparking conversations among the residents.
As the winners are announced and applause fills the room, the seniors gather together, basking in the warmth of shared achievement and the joy of creative collaboration. Their Popsicle stick scarecrow magnets serve as tangible reminders of their imaginative spirit and the camaraderie they have built through the joy of crafting.
In the months to come, the scarecrow magnets continue to bring smiles and delight. They serve as conversation starters, evoking memories of crisp autumn days, harvest festivals, and the charm of the changing seasons. The magnets become cherished keepsakes, treasured reminders of the joy, laughter, and sense of accomplishment that blossomed within the senior living facility.
So, let us celebrate the seniors who embrace the whimsy of Popsicle stick scarecrow magnets, for they remind us that creativity knows no age and that the joy of crafting can bring forth connections and shared laughter. May their charming scarecrow magnets continue to brighten their living spaces, spark conversations, and serve as tokens of the vibrant spirits that reside within the senior living facility.
You Will Need:
- Popsicle Sticks
- Hot Glue Gun
- Orange Paint
- Google Eyes
- Fabric Flowers
- An orange, brown and pink marker.
- Magnet
To Begin:
- Start by heating up your glue gun. Lay out roughly 8 popsicle sticks vertically next to one another. Be sure your popsicle sticks are all straight and facing the same way.
- Next, with your glue gun and a single popsicle stick, apply a line of glue down your stick. After the glue is applied, press and stick your popsicle stick horizontally across all 8 sticks to hold them together.
3. I made sure my stick is roughly an inch from the top, and a little sideways to add character.
4. Next, using orange paint and a paintbrush, paint the horizontal stick and everything above it. Leave the lower half bare.
5. Grab a fabric flower and glue it down on your “hat” or the orange we just painted.
6. Glue down the two google eyes in the middle of the popsicle sticks.
7. Using an orange marker, draw a triangle for the nose.
8. In brown, draw a curved dashed line to create the mouth.
9. With pink, add a pink circle to each cheek.
10. Grab your magnet, apply a dab of hot glue, then press and hold to the back side of your scarecrow.
11. Ta-da! You’ve created a scarecrow magnet!
