Happy DIY-Day!! I can’t wait to show you how to make these adorably cute snowmen for this upcoming winter – they’re made from just socks and rice!
You Will Need:
- Socks (One white, one colored)
- A Cup
- 1 lb bag of rice
- 2-3 Buttons
- Ribbon
- Pom Pom
- Black and Orange Marker
- 2, 6-inch strands of twine
- Scissors
To Begin:
- Begin by placing your white sock in your cup – wrap the opening of the sock around the lip of the cup to hold your sock open for you.
- Pour enough rice into your sock to make the body of your sock snowman – check your sock to make sure you have not too much nor too little.
- Using your twine, tie off the snowman’s body as close to the rice as possible. I usually triple-knot to make sure it doesn’t come undone.
- Next, with the help of a friend, hold open the opening of your sock and allow your friend to pour rice into your snowman to make the head.
- Like the body, we’ll use a strand of twine to tie off the head. Trim the hanging strands of twine.
- You should be left with a sock in the shape of a snowman – he’ll have a small tuft of fabric at the top of his head – you can either trim this or leave it as is. It will soon be covered with a hat!
- Next, we’ll grab our colorful sock and cut it in half – right at the arch of the sock.
- Using the toe-half of the sock, we’ll place this on top of our snowman’s head. Roll the bottom up to see his face.
- Using your black marker, mark two dots for his eyes, and a dotted half-crescent for the mouth.
- With the orange marker, draw a sideways triangle for the nose.
(You can also use a small orange pompom if you have one – attach with hot glue) - Next, we’ll add the scarf – you can either use the fabric from what’s leftover of your colorful scarf or use a pretty ribbon. The choice is yours!
- For this last step, we’ll heat up our hot glue gun and grab a couple of buttons. Then we’ll glue them to the front of our snowman.
- And finally, you have a cute and cuddly snowman!
